More than most, the Orontes Guitarists understand the power that music holds to build bridges and to heal. Like the river from which they draw their name, the trio crosses boundaries and borders, influencing and being influenced in return.
From a promising start in Beirut, the group has found refuge in Canda, thanks to the Artist Protection Fund (APF) which helps musicians in areas of conflict. Hailing from different cultural and religious traditions themselves, the trio is keenly aware of how music transcends the barriers between us. They bring audiences an uplifting blend of baroque, flamenco and blues-inspired classical guitar, as they explore their new land and community in this Prairie Debut tour.

Sechile Sedare means 'my younger brother, my older sister' in the Dene language. As the Prairie Sons, cellist David Liam Roberts and pianist Godwin Friesen embody the expansive, nuanced perspective of their home landscape in their concert program. The two award-winning musicians met at the Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School of Music, and recognized a kindred spirit in each other. The energy and innovation of the Prairie Sons invites you to take a fresh look at a familiar landscape, and to witness the miracle in the everyday.

The Penderecki String Quartet has become one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of their generation. These four brilliant musicians from Poland, Canada, and the USA are known for performances demonstrating “remarkable range of technical excellence and emotional sweep” (Globe and Mail). The PSQ champions music of our time, performing a wide range of repertoire from Haydn to Zappa to jazz as well as premiering over 100 new works to date. Described by Fanfare Magazine as “an ensemble of formidable power and keen musical sensitivity”, the PSQ’s expansive discography includes the chamber music of Brahms and Shostakovich (Eclectra and Marquis labels) and their recently released Bartok cycle. They enter their 20th year as Quartet-in-Residence at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.
