Event Notes

× The Conservatory Group Program Showcase is a variety show containing music, dance, and theatre performances from both youth and adult students studying at the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts. Performances for the evening will include the following (in performance order):

•The Prairie Kids Chorus is a beginner choir for young singers as young as 7 discovering the joys of singing together. The chorus will be presenting a variety of choral music from Gregorian chant to holiday favourites to delight the audience. This group is directed by Allison Luff with assistant conductor and accompanist Valerie Hall.

•The Conservatory Pipe Band will be showcasing their pipes and drums loud and proud! Be prepared for both familiar and unfamiliar tunes as we transport you to Scotland with a variety of traditional and new repertoire with Regina's only youth pipe band. This group is directed by Iain MacDonald with instructors Barb MacDonald, Laura Schmeling, Nadia Kang, and Ruaridh MacDonald.

•Get ready to be transported to Southern Spain with performances from Flamenco Regina. Our flamenco dancers will showcase this dynamic music, song and dance form that is sure to bring the energy up in the theatre! This group is led by Lilia Kusiak with instructor Coreen Dupre.

•Our Showtime Junior class will then present Pandemic Pancake by Lindsay Price. This one act play asks the question: What now? Characters decide, for good and for ill, how they will respond to this evolving new world. Do they find hope? Do they shut down? Do they open doors? Do they strategize long-term? Or do they take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute? We are no different than the characters in this play. We all must decide “what now?” Produced by special arrangement with Theatrefolk (theatrefolk.com). This group is directed by Vanessa Nezamloo.

•Lastly, our Showtime Senior class will present 10 Ways to Survive the End of the World. These days, it feels like the end of the world could happen any minute. But are the machines or the apes going to be the first to rise up against us? Are we looking at a killer asteroid or a killer virus here? Better get ready for them all! Any way the end times arrive, you just might have a shot at survival with this hilarious new how-to guide by playwright Don Zolidis. Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com). This group is directed by Vanessa Nezamloo.

There will be a short intermission between our Flamenco Regina and Showtime performances to reset the stage.

Tickets are $8 (+taxes) in advance and $10 (+taxes) at the door. Price is per seat. Performers will have seats reserved in the audience - do not purchase a ticket for performers. If you are bringing an infant and they will be on your lap for duration of the show, you do not need to purchase a ticket for your infant.

This event is rush seating (first come, first served on performance night). However, please contact the Darke Hall box office (306-523-2753) if you have any accessibility requests, so we can reserve appropriate seats based on your guest's needs.
