Event Notes

× The Conservatory Group Program Showcase is two days of a variety of performances including music, dance, and theatre from both youth and adult students studying at the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts.

Performances for DAY 2 will include:

The Conservatory Prairie Kids Chorus is a levelled choir for singers as young as 5 discovering the joys of singing together. Our Junior and Intermediate choirs (ages 7-12) will be presenting a short selection of repertoire. This group is directed by Allison Luff with collaboration and accompaniment by Valerie Hall.

The Conservatory Jazz Combo is an auditioned small jazz ensemble for teens looking to expand their knowledge and skills in jazz musicianship. The group will be presenting a selection of jazz standards and showing off their newly developed improvisation skills. This group is led by Carter Powley and Trent Reschny.

The Conservatory Adult Bagpipe Program includes classes for complete beginners to the bagpipes in addition to classes for amateur players who want a chance to keep playing their bagpipes outside of a band setting. The group is excited to share a few tunes to finish off the year of lessons. Our adult bagpipe program is led by Iain MacDonald.

The Conservatory Contemporary Dance Program builds a strong dancer’s body, encompassing flexibility, strength, pilates, yoga, cardio, and the techniques of ballet, as well as, influences from dancers/choreographers Martha Graham and José Limón. This group is led by dancer and choreographer Karen Rose.

Get ready to be transported to Southern Spain with performances from Flamenco Regina. Our flamenco dancers will showcase this dynamic music, song and dance form that is sure to bring the energy up in the theatre! This group is led by Lilia Kusiak and Coreen Dupre, with accompanist by Peter Dickof.
