Event Notes

× Get ready for three nights of singing, dancing, and performing at the Conservatory Musical Theatre Showcase. Students from the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts’ youth musical theatre programs are sure to dazzle and delight the audience with their newly found triple threat status. Performances on DAY 2 will include the following (in performance order):

Senior Glee (Saturday) presents Super Happy Awesome News! Two siblings launch rival good news networks and find themselves competing for the title of happiest news show. Soon, their correspondents are in a whirlwind of ecstatic musical reporting - from joyful weather forecasts, to cheerful cooking segments and blissful political updates! But, when vulnerability starts peeking through the euphoric facade, they’re left wondering: is there room for raw honesty on a super happy broadcast? Book by Jessica Penzias. Music and Lyrics by Denver Casado. Super Happy Awesome News is presented through special arrangement with Beat by Beat Press (www.bbbpress.com). Senior Glee (Saturday) is directed by Karen Rose.

Advanced Glee (Saturday) presents Everything’s Groovy! C’mon, brothers and sisters! Join Travis, Muriel, and Alice on their hip journey to bring together the Music, Beads, and Flowers Celebration. When the message goes out the popular singing group The Lemon Bugs will donate their talent, crazily-painted busses start arriving at Crumb’s Apple Farm, the site of the festival. Everything is cool until Mrs. Porter, who hates ’The Love Generation,’ arrives and demands that the local police shut down the happening. To make matters even worse, two music promoters offer The Lemon Bugs a deal they can’t refuse if they will skip the celebration. Hop on a bus and meet the sixties generation down at Crumb’s Apple Farm! Book by Tim Kelly. Music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur. Produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Denver, Colorado. Advanced Glee (Saturday) is directed by Karen Rose.

There will be an intermission between Senior Glee and Advanced Glee to reset the stage.
