Event Notes

× Get ready for three nights of singing, dancing, and performing at the Conservatory Musical Theatre Showcase. Students from the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts’ youth musical theatre programs are sure to dazzle and delight the audience with their newly found triple threat status.

Performances on DAY 1 will include the following (in performance order):

Senior Glee (Thursday) presents We Are Monsters. This hilarious musical follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye! Most importantly these monsters and kids discover the importance of friendship and celebrating in the attributes that make each of us different and unique. Book, music and lyrics for We are Monsters are written by Denver Casado & Betina Hershey. Presented through special arrangement with Beat by Beat Press (www.bbbpress.com). Senior Glee (Thursday) is directed by Erika Folnović with assistance from Cora Lockert.

Advanced Glee (Thursday) presents Attack of the Killer Grasshoppers. At an unusual school science fair, the displays are as wacky as can be: wrinkle-free bacon, Hamburger Helper face cream, and piranha fish now dedicated to a vegetarian diet! Meanwhile, on the isolated island of Malibula, something dreadful has happened at the ’Unusual Bug Research Center.’ The once congenial native grasshoppers have turned beastly, big, and voracious and are now vaulting, pouncing, and chomping! What has this to do with the science fair? The face cream has the grasshoppers as a chief ingredient. Anyone who slaps on the goop becomes... (gasp!!!) it’s too terrible to describe! Get ready for this hilarious musical that will have you rolling (or hopping!) in the aisles. The book for Attack of the Killer Grasshoppers is written by Robert Swift with music by Gerald Castle and lyrics by Michael C. Vigilant. Produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Denver, Colorado. Advanced Glee (Thursday) is directed by Alyssa Woolhether with assistance from Cora Lockert.

There will be a short intermission between the performances to reset the stage.
