Event Notes

× The Conservatory Group Program Showcase is a three day event presenting a variety of performances including music, dance, and theatre from both youth and adult students. Participants are studying at the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts in one of our group programs.

On DAY 2 we are excited to present performances from students in our Music Programs.

Performances for the evening will include the following (in performance order):

The Conservatory Prairie Kids Chorus is a levelled choir for singers as young as 5 discovering the joys of singing together. Our Junior and Intermediate choirs (ages 7-12) will be presenting a short selection of choral and holiday repertoire. This group is directed by Allison Luff with collaboration and accompaniment by Valerie Hall.

The Conservatory Adult Choir is a fun and relaxed singing environment for beginners and experienced singers alike. The group will present a couple short selections of holiday music. This group is directed by Lori Potter with accompaniment by Michael Dymund.

The Conservatory Youth String Orchestra gives young string players ages 8-12 their first experience with independent part playing. Our violin and cello students will be presenting a variety of classical, folk, and holiday pieces. This group is directed by Alaina Majewski.

The Conservatory Pipe Band will be showcasing their pipes and drums loud and proud! Be prepared for both familiar and unfamiliar tunes as we transport you to Scotland with a variety of traditional and new repertoire with Regina's only youth pipe band. This group is led by Iain MacDonald with support from Barb MacDonald, Laura Schmeling, Kenna Whelan, and Cameron Fuelscher.

The Conservatory Jazz Combo is an auditioned small jazz ensemble for teens looking to expand their knowledge and skills in jazz musicianship. The group will be presenting a selection of jazz standards and showing off their newly developed improvisation skills. This group is led by Carter Powley and Trent Reschny.

There will be an intermission between the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra and Conservatory Pipe Band to reset the stage.
