Nearly a decade since their first performance, the Akropolis Reed Quintet continues to dazzle and engage audiences with virtuoso off-the-wall performances. Comprised of oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet, and bassoon, the group has earned critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences around the world with their unique blend of virtuosity, humor, and passion.

Having first appeared on our stage in 2019, this incredible ensemble returns to the Cecilian Chamber Series for a concert title inspired by the program's centrepiece, Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin," a poignant tribute to the French soldiers who perished during World War I. The program will also include works they have had specifically commissioned. The ensemble's impeccable musicianship, precision, and sensitivity are sure to bring out the best throughout the concert.

Since forming in 1994, award-winning country duo Doc Walker, composed of Chris Thorsteinson and Dave Wasyliw, has become one of Canada’s most beloved country music acts. Over nearly three decades, the pair has won a JUNO Award, 14 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, and had 21 Top 10 Canadian country radio singles, eight #1 CMT videos, and millions of streams.

Doc Walker’s unshakable creative partnership and drive to explore new musical approaches has remained since the 2001 release of their breakthrough album, Curve. The duo is excited to share their new music and classic hits with fans again as they prepare to return to the stage this fall.

Two-time CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year award winner Jason McCoy is also eager to perform on The Great Canadian Roadtrip tour. As a 25-year veteran of the entertainment industry and frontman of one of the best-selling bands in Canadian country music history, The Road Hammers, Jason appears to be the king of reinvention. Since setting out at the age of 19 to follow his own path to stardom, Jason has racked up multiple CCMA and CMA awards along the way in addition to a Gold-certified album and CMA Global Artist Award (Nashville CMA).

Ever-engaging and entertaining, Jason has become an all-round entertainer, from voicing the nationally syndicated Country Radio show Sounds Canadian (2007-2010), to stepping in front of the camera as host of Smashtown (CMT Canada/USA), two seasons of CMT’s Pet Heroes (2010/2011), and Jason McCoy Eats America.

Also joining the tour's epic lineup is one of Canada’s most recognized and awarded female country singers, Michelle Wright. In 1992 she became the first Canadian artist in the modern era of country music to have a Top 10 hit in America, a #1 video on CMT‐USA, and to win a major US music industry award (the Academy of Country Music Top New Female Vocalist Award in 1992).

× The Cecilian Chamber Series presents the fourth concert in the 2023/2024 season, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

For the Cecilian Chamber Series' first concert of 2024 , the world-renowned Busch Trio from the Netherlands will present a concert that will feature works by two of the greatest composers of all time: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The concert will open with Rachmaninoff's Trio élégiaque No. 2 in D minor, a hauntingly beautiful work that showcases the composer's gift for creating deeply emotional and evocative music. The Busch Trio's interpretation of this work promises to be both powerful and moving, taking the audience on a journey through the depths of human emotion.

The second half of the concert will feature Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio in A minor, a deeply emotional and expressive piece that showcases the composer's gift for melody and harmony. The Busch Trio's interpretation of this work is sure to be nothing short of spectacular, with their exceptional musicality and technical proficiency.

× The Cecilian Chamber Series presents the fifth concert in the 2023/2024 season, Pictures.

Classical music enthusiasts are in for a treat on March 24th, 2024, as the Fauré Piano Quartett makes its first appearance in Regina. The quartet will be performing two iconic pieces of classical music: Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and Brahms' Piano Quartet Op. 60.

Pictures at an Exhibition, a suite of ten pieces for piano composed by Mussorgsky, is known for its vivid musical portrayals of various scenes and images, each piece describing a different picture in a gallery. The Faure Quartett's interpretation of this piece is sure to be breathtaking. The quartet will also be performing Brahms' Piano Quartet Op. 60, a masterpiece of chamber music that showcases Brahms' melodic genius and intricate harmonies.

× The Cecilian Chamber Series presents the sixth and final concert of the 2023/2024 season, Awakenings.

Lovers of string quartets in Regina are in for a treat as winners of the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Isidore Quartet take to the stage with a program entitled "Awakening”. The quartet's performance promises to be a concert of exquisite music that will awaken the senses and leave the audience breathless. The Isidore Quartet is known for their exceptional musicianship and deep understanding of the classical repertoire.

Their performance will feature works by some of the greatest composers of all time, including Haydn and Beethoven as well as the contemporary String Quartet #2 by Billy Childs and promises to be a musical journey with each piece awakening a different emotion and sensation in the listener.
