× The Perspective Festival is pleased to present Sir Stephen Hough in Concert.

Named by The Economist as one of Twenty Living Polymaths, Sir Stephen Hough combines a distinguished career and a longstanding international following as a pianist with those of composer and writer. The first classical pianist to be awarded a MacArthur Fellowship, he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honors 2014 and was awarded a Knighthood for Services to Music in the Queen’s Birthday honours 2022.

Stephen Hough resides in London and is an Honorary Member of the Royal Philharmonic Society, a Visiting Professor at the Royal Academy of Music and at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University, holds the International Chair of Piano Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, and is on the faculty of The Juilliard School in New York.

Cecilian Chamber Series -Fauré Piano Quartett Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM CST

× The Cecilian Chamber Series presents the fifth concert in the 2023/2024 season, Pictures.

Classical music enthusiasts are in for a treat on March 24th, 2024, as the Fauré Piano Quartett makes its first appearance in Regina. The quartet will be performing two iconic pieces of classical music: Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and Brahms' Piano Quartet Op. 60.

Pictures at an Exhibition, a suite of ten pieces for piano composed by Mussorgsky, is known for its vivid musical portrayals of various scenes and images, each piece describing a different picture in a gallery. The Faure Quartett's interpretation of this piece is sure to be breathtaking. The quartet will also be performing Brahms' Piano Quartet Op. 60, a masterpiece of chamber music that showcases Brahms' melodic genius and intricate harmonies.

Tickets are $65 for Level 1 seating, $60 for Level 2 seating, and $25 for Students, all fees and taxes included. Seating is assigned.

× The Cecilian Chamber Series presents the sixth and final concert of the 2023/2024 season, Awakenings.

Lovers of string quartets in Regina are in for a treat as winners of the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Isidore Quartet take to the stage with a program entitled "Awakening”. The quartet's performance promises to be a concert of exquisite music that will awaken the senses and leave the audience breathless. The Isidore Quartet is known for their exceptional musicianship and deep understanding of the classical repertoire.

Their performance will feature works by some of the greatest composers of all time, including Haydn and Beethoven as well as the contemporary String Quartet #2 by Billy Childs and promises to be a musical journey with each piece awakening a different emotion and sensation in the listener.

A fictitious male stripper troupe (played by a cast of some of Canada’s best improvisational comedians) performs a sexylarious improv comedy show. They try to be sexy… it just comes out funny. × Recognized by the UNESCO as Artists for Peace for “putting their fame and influence to promote cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and a culture of peace,” the Philippine Madrigal Singers is one of the most awarded choral groups in the world, founded in 1963, by National Artist for Music Professor Andrea O. Veneracion. Having won all the top prizes in most of the world’s choral competitions, they hold the distinction of being the first choir in the world to win the prestigious European Grand Prix for Choral Singing twice (1997 and 2007) and the first Asian choir to be accorded the BrandLaureate Premiere Award by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (2012).

Now under Choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio, the ensemble continues to perform a wide repertoire of various styles and forms: Renaissance, Classical music, Filipino and international folksongs, contemporary and avant-garde music, Opera and even popular music. Their specialization and focus on the madrigal idiom has inspired their unique set up of singing while seated in a semicircle, without a conductor.
